Are there any compatibility issues with plugins or themes?

Nearly 100% of plugins are compatible with our platform. However, some plugins or themes may experience compatibility issues. These issues can arise from a variety of factors, including differences in the server environment, PHP versions, or specific configurations on wildcloud that may not align with the requirements or expectations of certain plugins or themes. Plugins and themes are often developed by different creators with unique coding standards and practices, which can lead to conflicts when combined, especially if they are not designed to work together or if they modify the same functionality or data in conflicting ways.

Furthermore, updates to plugins and themes can introduce new code that hasn't been tested with the entire ecosystem of other plugins and themes, potentially causing unexpected behavior or compatibility problems. The complexity of potential conflicts increases with each additional plugin or theme used.

In addition, certain plugins may not function correctly on wildcloud if they depend on server-specific settings, use deprecated PHP functions, or require specific library versions that differ from those on the wildcloud platform. The multi-tenancy and containerization approach of wildcloud might also be incompatible with how some plugins or themes are designed to operate. This form of incompatibility mostly arises when the plugin or theme writes in the plugin folder during normal operations, e.g. All-in-one WP Migrate that stores backups in the Plugin folder, rather than a custom or customizable folder somewhere else in the wp-content folder.

When encountering such compatibility issues, the wildcloud support team is available to help. We can recommend alternative plugins or themes that are compatible with the wildcloud environment, ensuring a smoother migration process. It's important to note that plugin-specific files, like advanced-cache.php, or the presence of must-use plugins expecting certain PHP constants, might need to be adjusted or removed to fit the new environment properly.
